Reference to 'Is Writing Prompts Really Making Art?' by Gal Cohen & Orit Peres
In our project, we explored the concept that writing prompts can be considered an art form. Prompt writers must meticulously choose every detail in the image they wish to create, requiring a high level of control over the outcome produced by artificial intelligence. This necessitates that the artist makes deliberate decisions about every aspect of the image. To demonstrate this, we decided to issue the same simple and precise instruction to different modules, such as "a pink circle on an orange background." We tested this with DALL-E, MidJourney, and another model, receiving diverse results that involved design decisions like gradients, light and shadow, composition, and more. This helped us understand that there are many design decisions made by the artificial intelligence, and even with precise prompt writing, one needs to have control over these elements.
Here, we aimed not to rewrite the prompt but to request additional images instead
The next test was to use the same prompt in different models. Here we used Vector art xl, Pixelai and Disney: huggingface.
We've come to understand that writing prompts can indeed be considered an art form, as the artist must confront and choose carefully among the unintended design decisions made by the artificial intelligence, thereby crafting and selecting their decisions with care.
